Buses

A free shuttle bus service operates within the village to move people from the car parks and from The Davenport area to the central village area.

Buses operate from early morning to late in the evening and very early on Saturday mornings to cater for late arrivals on the weekends.

Note that skiing on the Great Alpine Road in winter is prohibited.

Chains

Snow chains must be carried when travelling to Mt Hotham in winter and fitted where directed, 4WD's are generally not required to fit chains. Chains can be hired in Harrietville, Bright and Omeo. A chain hire and fitting service also operates on both approaches on the Great Alpine Road.

Speed Limits

Speed limits are in place on the Great Alpine Road and are frequently enforced. The speed limit on both approaches and through the village is 60 kph, although they can be lowered to 40 kph if conditions deteriorate.
