Getting to Hotham is relatively easy now that the Great Alpine Road is sealed right through.
Forget the dark old days working your way through the mud and slush on an uncleared road that old hands may remember.
Mt Hotham can be approached from Melbourne either via Bright (and Harrietville in around 4.5 hours or via Omeo where you could expect to take 5.5 hours.)
From Sydney take the Hume Highway to Wodonga and follow the brown tourist snow signs to Yackandandah and then on to Myrtleford. From there, follow the Great Alpine Road through Bright and Harrietville.
Travel time for Sydneysiders is around 8 hours, although this will be greatly influenced by where you happen to live in Sydney so allow up to 2 additional hours for north siders.
From Adelaide travel via Echuca and Wangaratta to link up with the Great Alpine Road, travel time is around 12 hours.
Trekset Snow Services have coach transfers from Spencer Street in Melbourne and travel to Hotham via Tullamarine Airport and Wangaratta. Christians Bus Company also provide transfers from Melbourne, Albury and the Mt Hotham Airport.
Go to the Trekset site or the Christians Bus Co. website for fare and timetable information.
The Mt Hotham Airport opened to commercial & charter flights in 2000 and is located just 20 kilometres from Mount Hotham. Check airline schedules for the latest details as these are subject to change without notice.
